on my mind

Nikki's partner Sarah passed away last summer during her battle with cancer. Sarah was a blogger, and her sisters and Nikki created a blog to support her, and then kept it up. Since, they've shown more love to the blogosphere, more kindness, than words can describe. They supported other bloggers with cancer ferociously. In particular, Deb. They've been blogfriends to so many. I feel honored to have 'known' them.

Nikki went to Cambodia a couple of weeks ago to participate in the Doctor's Without Borders program.

Last Thursday, she was killed in a jeep accident.

There should be a limit to the amount of devastation one group of people has to face at a time.

It just doesn't seem possible.

Send your love to the sisters.

There are no words.

Thank you, Nikki, for your support and kindness. Thank you swlf sisters. I am so sorry.

oh my god, how can one family endure so very much pain?
Nikki took time each week to visit and email me, always thanking me for befriending Sarah. Which needed no thanks at all, Sarah was a hoot.

I can not believe this.
Such kind loving people to have so much loss thrown their way.
Nikki and Sarah are together again.
I know this to be true.
Thank you for letting me know Clandy.
I am in tears.

This was devastating news, indeed. I can only say that I am comforted to know that God is love and compassion which means that Nikki and Sarah are together now.

Here's what I posted for the sisters...it's something that I think it beautiful, even in a moment so horrific:
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
whatever we were to each other
that we still are
call me by my old familiar name
speak to me in the easy way
which you always used
put no difference in your tone
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together
pray smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
without the trace of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
it is the same as it ever was
there is unbroken continuity
why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you
somewhere very near
just around the corner
All is well

I've been back several times and unable to comment; I remember when I first saw that picture...

So much sadness...so undeserved!
